How can a one-line design become easier to wear?

Readability comes first. The lettering needs enough size and contrast for the message to make sense from a normal viewing distance. The placement also affects how the shirt looks when someone is standing or moving.

One customer once ordered a shirt with a long joke because he believed more words would make the humor stronger. When the shirt arrived, he found that people had to ask him to explain the message. He later selected a shorter design from our collection. Friends understood the joke without asking, and he found the shirt easier to wear in casual settings.

Our team considers that a useful lesson. A T-shirt is not a poster. The wearer moves, the fabric folds, and people see the design from different angles.

Graduation apparel presents another situation. Someone comparing graduation tees should consider whether the wording works for photographs, family gatherings, ceremonies, and casual celebrations. A clear message usually photographs more easily than a crowded design.

Current custom-tee guidance also emphasizes typography, contrast, garment selection, and print method when creating readable designs.

Roadkill T-shirts recommends reading the message from several feet away before ordering. If the joke makes sense quickly and the garment feels comfortable, the design has a better chance of becoming a shirt you actually wear instead of a purchase that stays folded in a drawer.
